Your Sub-Zero runs two separate cooling systems — one for the fridge, one for the freezer. Almost nothing else in a kitchen is built that way.

Usually yes. Sub-Zero built these to be rebuilt, and parts for the 500 and 600 series are still made. A new built-in runs $12,000 to $18,000 once you count the cabinet work.
Under about 40 percent of that and fixing it is the better deal. We will tell you straight when it is not.

The condenser needs cleaning. It is a reminder, not a breakdown — but do not sit on it. Salt air and dust clog the condenser, and that is what kills compressors early here.
